Furniture and Zen: living with philosophy

The original meaning of the Japanese word Zen (in Sanskrit dhyana) is to think, meditate.

The Zen, as an oriental philosophy and as a style it applies to all aspects of life, it speaks of harmony understood as well-being in every aspect: from physiological functions to the environment in which we live.

Live it Zen in furnishings and in the home it means recharging oneself and canceling the negative effects of stress; in one word, "love each other”.

The most important part of a house is where you spend most of your time, especially the bedroom, where you spend the hours of the night.

A restful sleep and a peaceful awakening can certainly be helped by a choice of natural colors and materials: sand, brown, green, wenge, are colors compatible with a bedroom with wooden products and fabrics without bright or unnatural colors.

Following order and simplicity, two elements of living according to Zen philosophy, it is possible to furnish a house with a few essential elements, using Organic products, with soft and natural lines, using as little metal as possible, to avoid concerns related to household magnetic fields and their effects on health.

A zen decor provides bedside tables and wooden beds, made with natural paints, latex mattresses, duvets and quilts in natural cotton corn (natural cotton is a hypoallergenic material), as a starting point for creating a bedroom that uses as few metal elements as possible, in order to avoid electromagnetic waves.

A perfect example of this philosophy are the Japanese houses, where every element is simple, tidy and cared for: tatami, the pavement composed of layers of rice straw, the futon, a mattress padded with layers of cotton, and the elegant ones beds Japanese, lower than traditional western beds.

Decor and Zen coexist managing to combine practical aspects (reduced costs, natural materials), philosophical and creative, in which the combination of tatami is futon they can be transformed from a sofa to a bed, excellent both in small spaces where space optimization is vital, and in homes where you want to quickly prepare a sleeping space for guests.

A winning example that combines tradition and innovation is provided by Kanto sofa which you can see in the opening image of this article and in the image below. In the first case the Kantoit can be used as a sofa and in the second as a bed.
