ThereFaverolles henwas born in the nineteenth century, obtained from a series of crosses between Brahma hens, Cochinchina, Asian Langshan hens, English Dorking chickens and the French Houdan. Only after many selections was it possible to definitively fix the characters of the Faverolles breed, named in honor of the village that light diets.

ThereFaverollesit is an imposing breed: the rooster has a weightminimum3.5 kg while the hen has a minimum weight of 2.8 kg. It has abundant plumage and, despite its size, elegant bearing.

The head of the Faverolles it has a beard and favorites, tufts of feathers located on the sides of the face, very developed, so as to cover the entire lower part of the head, wattles included. The important tonnage of theFaverollesit becomes even more voluminous thanks to the abundant cape that covers the neck. The crest is simple with 4 or 5 proportioned teeth, it is very straight in both the rooster and the hen.

Unlike classic hens, the legs of theFaverollesthey have 5 fingers (the typical hens have 4), with slightly feathered legs and external toe. Officially theFaverollesit has two colors, the silver wheat and the sparrow hawk. There Faverolles spalvieroit is very rare, in fact the best known and best bred is the silver wheat.

ThereFaverollesit is much appreciated for adorning gardens, farmyards, car parks and green spaces, from amateur breeders to farmhouses: there are many who appreciate theFaverollesfor its graceful appearance and calm disposition. It is an excellent companion hen and adapts to live well even in small chicken coops with not very high fences: the specimens ofFaverollesthey are very heavy and therefore have difficulty flying.
